This past year, I found myself very busy in my personal life and unable to attend a lot of physical market events and fairs. Not wanting to lose sight of growing my photography business, I created a Facebook Event for other small business owners who want to sell their hand made artisan products virtually on Saturday November 25th, 2017 either via their website or the Facebook event. The Saturday after Thanksgiving has become known as Small Business Saturday, sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This day started as an American Express initiative to encourage consumers to shop small and local during the holiday season, but it is now a key piece of the major holiday shopping day trifecta.
Starting at 12:01 AM and lasting until 11:59 PM on November 25th, 2017 you can shop the Virtual Makers Market for unique, handmade, crafty, industrial, punk, strange, vintage, kitschy, fun, and most importantly locally made gifts! Sales and deals are encouraged but not required for business participation, and as a customer you can certainly lay your eyes on some one of a kind merchandise this holiday season! Support handmade. Support the arts. Support families. Support Small Business Saturday!
Furthermore, if you own a small business, American Express is offering a FREE Shop Small® Kit (while supplies last) to help your business stand out. You can request a Shop Small® Kit full of merchandise with items like tote bags, stickers, and more via their website until 11/10/17. Don’t worry, if they are all out of kits, your submission automatically downloads a FREE folder full of online, social media, and physical marketing materials. Here are just a few examples created for my business:
