One of the many things I love about London is the melding of old and new. The Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass, is a 95-story skyscraper in Southwark, London, that forms part of the London Bridge Quarter development. Standing 309.6 metres (1,016 ft) high, the Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom, the 87th tallest building in the world, and the fourth tallest building in Europe. The Shard’s construction began in March 2009 with the practical completion achieved in November 2012.
As one of the newest buildings of London, I tried to capture the surrounding history alongside this modern masterpiece.
